Obama in Harrisonburg
Today was an exciting day in the Shenandoah Valley! Thousands of people waited in the cold to get a glimpse o
f Barack Obama and hear his message in person. Unfortunately, thousands of people were also turned away since our largest 'arena' only holds 7,000. It was a rare and unforgettable moment. As you check out the photos on the right, note the guy with the mohawk. The button on his hair says, "Mohawks for Barack!"

Let the Tapering Begin!!
I ran 11 miles this afternoon. Another first and my only complaint is that my right foot was hurting just a little. Going to have to check the socks. At any rate, today's run marks the official end to the climb and the beginning of the downhill to race day. I can't wait to run where it is flat!
The big news around here is that Obama is holding a rally in Harrisonburg (at JMU) on Tuesday. We are very excited to have a chance to see him in person!!

Sailing Adventure
About 10 days ago, Pete took off on a sailing adventure with two retired Presbyterian ministers! One day with wind, one day without! One day with a motor, and one day without--and it wasn't the day with the wind. It was a an exhausting trip home....but a good time was had by all. Pictures are available at the following link!--note the redhead who came out to jump their motor :)

The 10.5 milepost & Reddish Knob
I have now successfully completed two 10.5 mile runs and today's run was 4 minutes faster than last week!! Today's time: 1 hour, 41 minutes, 14 seconds. The coming week will thankfully afford some rest time, getting ready for the last push before the tapering period.---Laurie
For a little relaxation, today we drove up to Reddish Knob for a picnic lunch. The fall color was outstanding! See the slide show on the right.

XC Season Finale
The XC Season is now over and Ian still wants to run. In fact, we ran together a couple of days this past week :)
They had a big race last Saturday (Oct 4th) and Ian ran his best time ever: 12 min 52 sec. The team wrapped up the season with a mile time trial on Wednesday. Ian had another best, running the mile in 5 min 54 sec. He is currently looking for a 5K to run soon so that can keep up his current fitness level. Way to go Ian!!
